Fall Finale Tournament Teams Preview (Teams 17-24 in no particular order)

17. BOMBERS – Captain: Ivan Carrasco

Hometown: Norwood, MA

Ivan and his Bombers squad are on a roller coaster of success the past few weekends in tourney ball. Last weekend they were crowned champions of the Tommy Tunes Wood Bat Tournament after giving up less than 10 runs in the whole tournament. However, they gave up 21 runs in the first game of the Pumpkin Ball Bash and were never able to climb out of the run differential hole to advance. Long-ranging outfielders and good pitching will keep them in the game, but they must avoid overthrows and errors to advance.

18. GROGAN-MARCIANO NOMADS – Captain: Chris Tracy

Hometown: Easton, MA

Chris provided us with a quick tidbit on his team: “We are all from the same ASA league, Easton Men’s Softball, Easton MA. We have never all played together but we play against each other often. We are a mix of 3-4 teams in our league.” Whenever you combine a few teams into one, friendships are put aside, and the competition quickly becomes your team mate. This should be a recipe for success, but they will need to click on all cylinders to be successful on Saturday.

19. BRIGG’S CORNER – Captain: Ryan Shaughnessy

Hometown: Canton, MA

A perennial favorite out of the Canton Men’s League, these guys mean business. Ryan and his team traditionally enter this tournament and every year they are one of the top contenders. With limited action in Hub games this season we haven’t got a peak at this squad this year. One thing’s for sure though, they’re determined to play as hard as any team out there.

20. US FUEL – Captain: CJ Braden

Hometown: Gloucester, MA

Coming in as one of the sure shot favorites to win this tournament, the US Fuel team has the arsenal of weapons to win back to back Hub tournaments. After giving up 12 runs in the Pumpkin Ball Bash Tournament two weekends ago they were simply dominant on their way to another championship. There is no reason to ever take this team lightly, they’re looking like a top favorite no question about it.

21. SOUTHIE – Captain: Keith Savage

Hometown: South Boston, MA

Well their name clearly gives away where these group of guys live. Another squad hailing from the ever-popular Southie. These guys typically play in the M Street fast pitch league during the year. They’re slowing it down to jump in the Fall Finale and feel confident they have what it takes to compete. Somewhat of a sleeper pick here, these guys could pull off some major upsets.

22. YAHD DOGS – Captain: Kris Monson

Hometown: Cambridge, MA

If you look up the word softball in the dictionary you will find a picture of Kris Monson. He lives, eats, and breathes the game. He has played in over 250 games this year, no the zero at the end of that number is not a mistake. We count him on 16 different rosters for league and tourney ball this season with Hub. Joining him are a group of guys that share that same desire, passion and love for the game. An affection for softball never got anyone a W though, they hope to play at the top of their game to have the ability to move past pool play come Saturday.

23. BULLDOGS – Captain: Alex Carrion

Hometown: Everett, MA

Alex and his crew are coming mostly from north of Boston. They are current top dogs in the Hub Weeknight Men’s League with an 8-2 record heading into the playoffs. They’re boasting a +29 run differential in a very stacked league. For comparison the team that won the ship in the summer is barely at .500 for the Fall season. League wins don’t always translate to tourney wins though. The field is more competitive than ever this year, but we know the Bulldogs will bring it.

24. LOLITA/DISSIDENT – Captain: Chris Jamison

Hometown: Boston, MA

Back again in 2017 Chris and the team are determined to clean up their act and play to the level they know they can. More often than we see their team advance out of pool play into bracket play. We play the games for a reason though, these guys need to live up to the hype and come out and compete. It’s going to be a doozy come Saturday, saddle up!
